Back when I decided to go Paleo, I knew I had to replace my usual oatmeal and yogurt breakfast since it didn’t really go with all the cool new stuff I was learning.
I also knew I didn’t want to eat eggs and bacon every morning, so coming up with a quick and easy breakfast plan was pretty important to me.
So, finally, after I read Toadally Primal Smoothies by Todd Dosenberry, and I decided I would start having breakfast salad smoothies. (Yes, you read the salad part correctly). I figured it would be a great way to make sure I was getting all of the macro nutrients I needed to start the day off right.
Keep in mind, this is not juicing, this is a legit smoothie.
Here’s what my breakfast salad smoothies consist of:
FRUITS (CHOOSE ONE)
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Strawberries
- Tropical Blend of mango, bananas and pineapple
VEGETABLES (CHOOSE MANY)
- Spinach
- Kale
- Red and green peppers
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Avocado
- Radishes
- Carrots
- Tomatoes
OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER ADDING
- Cinnamon
- Cayenne pepper
- Olive Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Pastured Eggs
I’ve been doing this for about a year now, and I can honestly say each smoothie has been both different and delicious. It might take a little while to get used to the texture, but once you get past that, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start making these years ago!
